In this prayer the physician undertakes the responsibility
of caring for God's creations, keeping vigil over their life
and wellbeing.
The six days of Creation and the holy Shabbat are represented
in this colorful print, in concentric circular borders, a
day in each. The first day, in which light was created, is
all gold. The second day - the separation of water and heavens.
The third day - the creation of land and vegetation. Sun and
moon, day and night, on the fourth day. Small creatures living
on land, in air and in water were formed on the fifth day.
These are represented by the birds, while elephants, largest
of all mammals, symbolize the Lord's work on the sixth day,
crowned by the creation of man and woman. Shabbat, the blessed
day of rest, is adorned with flowers.
In the four corners are the colors of the four seasons, each
crawling into the next as a secondary border because of the
continuity of time. The cycle of the year does not have sharp
breaks; it flows...and the physician's toil never ends.
